I’m not an artist. Is this for me?
Profoundly Creative invites us to make time and space to engage our imaginations through creative play. We experiment with creative processes that open us up to different ways of relating to ourselves and the world around us. Some exercises use drawing or painting techniques, others use writing, observation, or found objects.
The creative exercises don’t require any prior art experience – just curiosity and a willingness to play. We focus on process rather than a specific end product.
Do I need to buy expensive art materials?
No. You likely already have much of what we’ll be using – a sketchbook or notebook, some paper, scissors and glue or tape, a pencil or pen, something to add colour (crayons, pencil crayons, felt pens or a small paint set). Sometimes we mine our recycling bins for scap paper or cardboard. Prior to each session, Robi shares a list of materials to have on hand.
What ages is this for? Can kids join?
The session pacing and conversations are designed for thoughtful reflection and creation, best suited to ages 16+.
What’s the time commitment each week?
The time commitment is entirely flexible. The weekly creativity sessions run for 1 hour on zoom each Sunday. Two sessions are offered each Sunday, one at 10 AM Pacific/1 PM Eastern and one at 2PM Pacific/5 Eastern. You choose which time fits better for your schedule each week.
The sessions are recorded and available for replay in the Profoundly Creative membership site. In the site, you also have the option to join discussions with other members, extend your practice with additional creative prompts, and post images of your work in progress or finished pieces. All participation is optional.
What if the schedule doesn’t work for me? Will I get behind if I miss a session?
We’re all adults here, with busy lives and schedules. While you’ll get the most creative benefit from regular participation, each session stands alone. If you miss a session, you won’t get behind or be required to catch up in order to be ready for the next session.
No one is marking attendance or assignments. That said, all sessions are recorded so you can watch and follow along later if you are really interested in the theme for that week.
