Profoundly Creative’s mission is to help you unlock your innate creativity so you can generate ideas and express yourself in a meaningful and authentic way, no matter what your background or how other people see you. A profoundly creative practice is especially helpful for writers, visual artists, designers, performers, musicians, inventors and entrepreneurs in any field.

I’m a visual artist, educator and arts-based facilitator from Vancouver, BC. I hold a Master of Education degree in Arts for Social Change from Simon Fraser University.

Through my art practice, I explore the complex, beautiful and often problematic interconnections between humans and nature. My mixed media paintings have been exhibited in public and commercial galleries in Canada and the United States. Commissions include artwork for the BC Children’s Hospital Teck Acute Care Centre and Vancity Credit Union. You can see examples of my art at robismith.com
For five years (2014-2019), I was an Artist-in-Residence with the City of Maple Ridge, BC, where I collaborated with more than 250 residents and neighbours to create an annual illuminated lantern installation in a City park along the Alouette River.

I started Profoundly Creative because I believe each of us has the capacity for wonder and curiosity, and for making meaning out of our lives. By tapping into our imaginations through play, experimentation, observation, and reflection, we develop our creative muscles, helping us to shape the world around us in new and exciting ways.
I hope you’ll join me!
