It’s easy to get caught up in all the craziness in the world right now. If you’re like me, it can be hard to turn off the news and social media. But in order to care for others and make a positive impact in the larger world, we have to find ways to care for ourselves.
For me, taking even short amounts of time to make art gives my busy, overthinking brain a rest. My heart rate slows, my breathing changes, and I feel more connected to myself.
One of the keys to relaxing is to find creative processes that are intuitive and responsive, without the pressure of striving for a predetermined outcome. Painting with watercolours, where I’m focused on mixing colours and responding to how the paint flows on the page, is a perfect way to shift my energy and unwind.

If you would like to explore some of these painting techniques, join me for a free, on-line workshop on Sunday, March 23. During this guided, process-based workshop, we’ll play with watercolour paints to explore colour, texture, and flow in a calm and meditative atmosphere. You can learn more and register here.
Beginners are welcome—you don’t need any prior experience or skill to participate. I look forward to meeting you!
PS: This watercolour painting workshop is one of a series of four I’m offering between March 23 and April 13. Check out Upcoming Workshops for all the details.
